Workshop

imp

An editor as flexible as Emacs, with Vim editing by default.

Rust · Scheme

A small Rust core runs the buffers, rendering and parsing. The editor itself (every key, command, mode and package) is Scheme, using Steel, that you can read, redefine and extend while it runs.

imp is in alpha. It’s usable day to day for Vim-style editing, and each release ships a single self-contained binary for Linux (x86_64, aarch64) and macOS on Apple silicon.

Why it’s here

It’s the longest-running thing in the workshop, and the one that shows I’m comfortable below the web stack: buffers, parsing, rendering, and an embedded language runtime.

Tell me what you're building.

A short form, about a minute. I read every one myself and reply by email, usually within two business days.
